Privacy Notice

Who this notice is for

Dictino is intended to be set up and managed by a parent or guardian. The child may use the dictation practice experience, but account and list-management choices are for the parent or guardian.

Information used on the device

Dictino stores the information needed to work on the device, including a child’s first name and chosen avatar, confirmed word lists, learning progress, aggregate practice results, rewards, language preference, and writing interval. This enables the app’s offline practice experience.

Photos used to capture a word list and the resulting OCR text are temporary. They are used only to help the parent review a list and are removed after saving, cancelling, or abandoning the capture flow. Downloaded speech audio and related cache data stay on the device.

Optional parent account and synchronisation

A parent may choose to sign in with an email and password or Google. Sign-in uses the account information supplied by that method, such as the parent’s email address and, for Google sign-in, the basic profile information Google provides for authentication.

When a parent enables synchronisation, Dictino sends the child’s first name and avatar, confirmed lists and list items, aggregate learning progress, aggregate completed-session information, and lifetime reward summary to the parent’s account so those items can be synchronised between the parent’s devices. Language, writing interval, photos, OCR results, downloaded audio, and device-security information are not synchronised as product data.

Why we use information

• to provide the dictation practice and local progress features;
• to authenticate an optional parent account and synchronise approved data;
• to process a parent-selected image into possible French words and generate speech;
• to protect the service, prevent misuse, and meet legal obligations.

Dictino does not use personal information for advertising, behavioural advertising, or social features.

Service providers

We use Supabase to provide authentication and the optional account synchronisation service. We use Google Cloud Vision only for a parent-selected image-to-text request and Google Cloud Text-to-Speech to generate French dictation audio. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to Dictino.

How long information is kept

Device data remains on the device until the parent deletes it or erases the app’s data. Information in an optional parent account is kept until the account is deleted, except raw cloud aggregate session records, which are removed after 12 months. Lifetime reward totals and the current streak checkpoint remain until account deletion. Temporary capture photos and OCR results are not retained after the capture flow ends.

Your choices and rights

A parent can use Dictino without an account, manage local lists in the app, sign out, and request account deletion from the app once that account feature is available. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of personal information, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
